Cabeau Evolution Earth Deluxe vs. Ostrichpillow Go Neck

I absolutely love to travel, but I must admit that I haven’t always been the best at it. When it comes to finding a mind-blowing package deal, zipping through the airport, and packing luggage like it’s a game of Tetris, I’m your girl.

But when it comes to hopping off a plane feeling rested and ready to go, I don’t exactly have a great track record. My last sleepless red-eye was the final straw, and after throwing out yet another $15 Walmart travel pillow, I decided it was time to invest in some serious travel tech.

No more styrofoam balls. No more cheap polyester. I was going to do this right.

So I dove down the rabbit hole of deluxe travel pillows, researching microbeads vs. memory foam, wrap-around vs. classic. Two of the best ones I tried were Cabeau’s Evolution Earth Deluxe Neck Pillow and Ostrichpillow’s Go Neck Pillow.

Here’s how they compared.

Cabeau Evolution Earth Deluxe Neck Pillow

Evolution Earth Deluxe Neck Pillow

The eco-friendly Evolution Earth Deluxe is marketed as “a travel companion designed to elevate your journey while protecting the Earth.” How does it do that? By draping its ergonomic memory foam with sustainable fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. It comes in four color combinations, ranging from a fiery red/orange combo to a more reserved gray/black.

First impression: Cabeau pairs the traditional travel pillow U-shape with a handy patent-pending chinstrap to keep it securely in place, whether you’re dealing with airplane turbulence or a winding country road. The cushy removable cover is luxuriously soft to the touch, so you won’t have to worry about skin irritation as you catch your Zzzs.

The Go Neck is marketed as “first-class comfort for every journey,” claiming to provide ergonomic 360° comfort with neck support that contours to your spine’s natural curve. It comes in seven lovely earthy color combinations, including Dark Night, Green Moss, and Forest Snooze.

First impression: This pillow is insanely stylish, with a sleek design that cradles the head and neck. It almost looks like a stuffed scarf, rather than a travel pillow, and I felt somewhat like a model walking the runway to board my flight.

Cabeau vs. Ostrichpillow, Factor by Factor

In my opinion, the best way to compare the two is to go one step at a time, seeing how each one delivers on comfort, support, price… the works.

Comfort & Support

Cabeau

Normally, the standard U-shape of most travel pillows doesn’t really work for me. I don’t know if I just have an unusually overactive head while sleeping, but I’ll often wake up multiple times per trip with my travel pillow hanging precariously off one shoulder, while my head is slumped toward the other — far from ideal for a red-eye flight.

I’m happy to say that this isn’t the case with Cabeau’s Evolution Earth. Its raised side support and slightly flattened back cradle your head no matter where it falls.

But its chinstrap is the real game-changer here. Not only did the pillow remain firmly around my neck, but unlike other pillows I’ve tried, it actually gave me much-needed support under my chin. It holds my head in place without feeling forced or rigid, so I can sleep more easily and wake up without annoying stiffness (or slumped on the shoulder of my poor seat neighbor).

The other huge thing was that I didn’t overheat while using it at all. The customizable open-neck design helps your body regulate its temperature, so you don’t arrive at your destination with a shiny face.

Cabeau promises that the Evolution Earth provides a fully customizable fit, so my partner and I decided to put it to the ultimate test: we shared my pillow during an 8-hour road trip to Las Vegas, with each of us taking a 4-hour shift.

Typically, my pillows do NOT work for him, but the adjustable chinstrap helped us both stay comfy. He even fell asleep at one point!

I was really excited to try the Go Neck Pillow because of its non-traditional design, which is truly unlike any other travel pillow I’ve tried. Its smooth, asymmetrical curves offer varying levels of support, which you can customize by rotating the pillow around your neck until it feels just right. By supporting your chin and jaw, the pillow helps to maintain a neutral spine alignment and reduce neck cricks and stiffness.

What I liked here was the adjustable velcro strip at the front, which gave me a ton of control over the general fit.

But what really impressed me was the pillow’s rotatability. I spent about five minutes testing out all the positioning options before settling on one.

The memory foam was both firm and supple, offering great support with just enough cushioning. However, while the breathable fabric felt cool against my skin during take-off, the closed 360° design left my neck a little sweaty by the end of my flight. It’s not a super big deal, but it’s worth noting. And speaking of moisture, the low chin support left me drooling a bit. Glad the seat beside me was empty!

My pick: While both pillows offer powerful support, Cabeau’s chinstrap gives it an edge by helping to reduce snoring, drooling, and excess wobbling.

Materials

Cabeau

This pillow’s supportive core is made up of ergonomic (and recyclable) memory foam, intentionally shaped to gently cradle the head around the sides, back, and front. The removable, washable cover is made from RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) fabric — a sustainable material that’s made from plastic bottles, helping to keep them out of the oceans and landfills.

I love a good eco-friendly fabric. 50% of the time, you’ll find me wearing bamboo leggings. So I wasn’t surprised at all to find that the Evolution Earth is just as buttery soft as the company claims. It’s also super easy to wash; just throw it into your regular load.

Go Neck Pillow materials

The Go Neck is built around a viscoelastic memory foam core, which kind of gives it a springy, almost liquid-like feel that conforms to your head and neck. Its washable cover sleeve is 94% rayon and 6% elastomer, and feels silky to the touch.

My pick: As a proud tree-hugger, I have to go with Cabeau. Besides being environmentally friendly, it’s also hyper-comfy and washable. As an added note, Cabeau also partners with a company called CleanHub to help clean up the ocean!

Price

Cabeau

At just $56, the Evolution Earth is kind of a steal. Plus, you get 20% off and an enhanced product warranty if you join their newsletter.

A single Go Neck will set you back $89, which was a bit of a record-scratch moment for me. But if you have a travel buddy or two who’d like to order together, you can save 15–20% by bundling.

My pick: I like that Cabeau keeps their pillow affordable, which means I have more money to spend on airplane snacks!

Portability

Cabeau

The Evolution Earth comes with its own travel case that can clip directly onto your luggage, duffle bag, or backpack, so you don’t have to worry about stuffing it into your carry-on or losing it while racing to catch your flight. Yes, this has happened to me before. No, I don’t recommend it.

Not only does the Go Neck come with its own handy carrying bag, but it also compresses down to 60% of its size in order to fit inside it. This makes it a far more compact and portable option than the comparatively bulky Evolution Earth, which may make a difference depending on your travel style. The carrying bag also features a cute travel quote, which is a fun bonus.

My pick: This one goes to Ostrichpillow. Their Go Neck pillow is incredibly easy to roll up and pack away, which is great for both travel and at-home storage.

Cabeau vs. Ostrichpillow: My Verdict

Both pillows are super comfortable, and there’s a lot to love about them, like their breathable fabrics, comfortable custom fits, and easy-to-clean covers.

If you want a pillow that will beautifully complement your travel fit and don’t mind spending a little extra, the Go Neck may be the right choice for you.

If you’re looking for a more affordable option that delivers major comfort and support while helping create a cleaner planet, I highly recommend the Cabeau Evolution Earth Deluxe.

Whichever pillow you choose, I hope you have a safe, restful, and comfy trip!
